His Overman vision is a positive belief that humanity can evolve. Let’s just say I find reading him now to be a negative experience. Nietzsche actually lamented the Protestant Reformation. He believed that if Martin Luther had not arrived on the scene the Church would have already died a natural death. Christopher I never thought him a nihilist. I think Nihilists are the ones that focus on negativity through their belief in 'nothing'. Nietzsche announced that God was dead because the grip of the Church had loosened considerably from Christianity's hey day where heretics were burned and tortured and in fact anyone who questioned the absolutism of church dogma was a heretic. Perhaps rather than 'negativity' one could say his works were practical, realistic and reflecting real life which is itself not always a positive experience.
